ELMWOOD PARK, NJ — A Dumont man who was released by judges after back-to-back stolen vehicle arrests last week was arrested again Sunday morning, this time in Elmwood Park, where police say he was found with another stolen car.

Mohamed Eltoukhy, 23, was arrested by Officer Nicholas Squillaci around 6:30 a.m. Oct. 25 in the parking lot of Walgreens on Broadway, Elmwood Park Police Chief Michael Foligno said.

The store manager had called police because Eltoukhy was allegedly acting erratically inside the store, the chief said. Officers subsequently found him with a stolen vehicle.

The latest arrest came days after Eltoukhy was charged in a string of alleged crimes across Bergen and Passaic counties, including a dealership burglary in Bergenfield and separate stolen vehicle cases in Bergenfield and Paterson.

As previously reported by BCNewsNow, Eltoukhy was arrested in Bergenfield early Oct. 19 after Officer Jean Baptiste stopped him in a 2011 Mazda 3 that had been reported stolen about 12 hours earlier.

Detectives later connected him to a burglary at AA Discount Auto Sales on South Washington Avenue, where a rear door had been forced open and several vehicles had damaged steering columns. The damage was estimated at $3,500, according to police.

Investigators collected forensic evidence, including fingerprints, reviewed surveillance video and conducted interviews before identifying Eltoukhy as a suspect, authorities said.

Bergenfield police charged him with six counts of burglary, three counts of criminal mischief and counts related to motor vehicle theft, drugs, drug paraphernalia and burglary tools.

Eltoukhy was booked into the Bergen County Jail but was released pending trial by a Superior Court judge shortly after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Barely two and a half hours later, around 8 p.m., Paterson police arrested him in another vehicle that had been reported stolen from Hackensack. He was charged with receiving a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest and crack cocaine possession, while Hackensack police charged him with theft.

He was returned to the Bergen County Jail shortly after midnight Wednesday. A judge in Paterson released him pending trial before 8 p.m. that day.

Sunday's arrest in Elmwood Park resulted in additional charges of receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use.

Eltoukhy was back in the Bergen County Jail Monday morning.
