BERGENFIELD, N.J. — Bergenfield Democrats Marc Pascual and Domingo Almonte won the borough's two available council seats Tuesday without facing a single opponent on the ballot.

Pascual received 6,605 votes, while Almonte received 6,486, according to unofficial Bergen County election results.

Both candidates had the endorsement of the Bergen County Jewish Action Committee (BCJAC), although neither faced a Republican or independent challenger in the general election.

The borough's Board of Education contest was more competitive.

Fanny L. Cruz Betesh defeated Martha S. Papapetrou for the available school board seat, receiving 3,246 votes to Papapetrou's 2,600.

Cruz Betesh, also endorsed by BCJAC, finished 646 votes ahead of her opponent.

The results gave BCJAC a clean sweep of its three Bergenfield endorsements, although the two council candidates faced no organized opposition.

For Bergenfield Democrats, the council election was a formality. For school board voters, the ballot offered a choice, with Cruz Betesh emerging as the winner.

The results are based on Bergen County's unofficial November 3, 2026 election report, refreshed at 10:21 p.m., and include early voting, Election Day ballots and partial mail-in results.
