PARAMUS, N.J. — Republicans held their ground in Paramus Tuesday, winning both available Borough Council seats in a competitive four-candidate race while Republican Mayor Christopher DiPiazza cruised to another term without opposition.
Republicans Eric Crespo and Alfredo Nadera finished first and second in the council race with 4,617 and 4,613 votes, respectively, according to unofficial Bergen County election results.
Democrat Melissa Caminiti finished a close third with 4,533 votes, just 80 behind Nadera for the final seat.
Fellow Democrat Peter Caminiti Sr. received 4,403 votes.
The results marked a narrow but important victory for the local GOP, with both Republican candidates holding off the Democratic challenge.
DiPiazza, who ran unopposed for mayor, received 5,696 votes.
While the mayor's race offered little suspense, the council contest showed a much more closely divided electorate, with just 214 votes separating the first- and fourth-place candidates.
Voters also filled three seats on the Board of Education.
Laura Siclari led the school board field with 3,863 votes, followed by Joanne Bergmann with 3,401 and Lauren LaBarbiera with 3,044.
Alexander Aksanov fell short with 2,436 votes, followed by Anthony Feorenzo III with 2,318.
Despite Paramus' Jewish community, neither the municipal nor school board contests received endorsements from the Bergen County Jewish Action Committee (BCJAC).
The results keep the mayor's office and both available council seats in Republican hands while setting the next lineup for the borough's school board.
The results are based on Bergen County's unofficial November 3, 2026 election report, refreshed at 10:21 p.m., and include early voting, Election Day ballots and partial mail-in results.
