FAIR LAWN, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s help finding a 43-year-old Fair Lawn man who vanished more than a month ago after walking out of his parents’ home without his phone or other personal belongings.

Enver Messano was last seen between 6 and 7 a.m. on Sept. 28, wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie, according to the Fair Lawn Police Department.

He has not returned home, and authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of his disappearance.

Messano had recently moved back to New Jersey from California, according to a former high school classmate who saw him at their reunion just weeks before he went missing.

Christina Beringhelli Stec said Messano reminisced with former classmates and talked about adopting a rabbit. She also recalled that he declined to take photographs with the group.

“His mother said even when he was leaving for the reunion, he looked so handsome,” Stec said, recalling that Messano wore a tuxedo without a bow tie but would not let his mother take a picture.

Messano is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He has blue eyes, brown hair and a scar on his abdomen.

Fair Lawn police have issued a missing-person alert and are asking anyone who may have seen Messano or knows where he is to come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Fair Lawn Police Department at 201-796-1400 and reference case No. 26-18839.
