PARAMUS, NJ — Bergen New Bridge Medical Center and Ramapo College of New Jersey are expanding a partnership aimed at training more health care workers while giving medical center employees a more affordable path to advanced nursing degrees.
The new initiative, called Pipeline to Practice: A Collaboration in Healthcare Education & Workforce Development, makes Ramapo a preferred higher education partner for Bergen New Bridge and expands clinical learning opportunities for Ramapo students.
Under the agreement, eligible Bergen New Bridge employees pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Ramapo will receive a 25% tuition discount.
The partnership will also create more opportunities for Ramapo students to gain hands-on experience in active health care settings, working alongside medical professionals and developing skills before entering the workforce.
“We have a responsibility to help build the health-care workforce our communities need today and for the future,” Bergen New Bridge President and CEO Deborah Visconi said. “That means welcoming students into real care environments and making it easier for our own team members to continue their education.”
The two institutions will collaborate on clinical education, experiential learning, professional development and career pathways.
Ramapo College President Cindy R. Jebb said the partnership will give students the practical experience needed to enter the health care workforce prepared for the demands of patient care.
The agreement was formally signed Sept. 17 at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus.
