ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — Democratic Councilwoman Lisa Wisotsky is projected to secure another term representing Englewood's 2nd Ward after running unopposed in Tuesday's general election.
Wisotsky effectively secured reelection months ago when she defeated former Englewood Board of Education member Dr. Suzanne Mullings in the June 2 Democratic primary, winning 80% of the vote, 933 to 234. No Republican or independent candidate challenged her in November.
A physician who served as City Council president in 2025, Wisotsky has longstanding connections to Englewood's Orthodox Jewish community.
A graduate of Yeshiva of Flatbush who also studied at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Wisotsky previously served on the board of Congregation Ahavath Torah, one of Englewood's major Orthodox synagogues. She and her family moved to Englewood in 1995 and raised five children in the city.
Before joining the council, Wisotsky served on Englewood's Board of Health and worked with local synagogues on initiatives to help older Orthodox Jewish residents remain in their homes as they aged.
Following the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel, Wisotsky publicly expressed pride in Englewood's passage of a resolution condemning Hamas terrorism. She also participated in the city's recognition of The Moriah School's 60th anniversary in 2025.
After losing the June primary, Mullings congratulated Wisotsky and pledged to remain involved in local affairs.
“I want to congratulate Dr Lisa Wisotsky on her victory and wish her success as she continues to serve our community,” Mullings wrote at the time.
