BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. — Nearly 75,500 ballots had been cast in Bergen County by Wednesday afternoon, with early voting continuing through Sunday ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.

Teaneck’s early-voting site led the county with 5,249 votes as of 2 p.m. Oct. 28, followed by Paramus with 3,655 and Fort Lee with 3,379. Hackensack recorded 2,138 votes.

The figures reflect votes cast at each location, not necessarily votes by residents of those towns. Bergen County voters may use any of the county’s 10 early-voting sites. Separate totals for residents of Bergenfield, Englewood, Tenafly and Fair Lawn were not provided.

Countywide, officials had received 44,546 mail-in ballots and recorded 30,944 in-person early votes, for a combined total of 75,490.

Bergen County Board of Elections Chair Richard Miller described turnout as “a little bit better” than in the last midterm election and projected approximately 52,000 mail-in ballots.

Early voting continues through Sunday, Nov. 1, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters must go to their assigned polling places.

Mail-in ballots can be returned to any of the county’s 35 secure drop boxes by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Ballots sent through the U.S. Postal Service must be postmarked by 8 p.m. Nov. 3 and received by the county by Nov. 9.
