TEANECK, N.J. — The George Washington Bridge’s notorious traffic may have finally caught up with one driver.
A 25-year-old Brooklyn man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly fleeing a Teaneck police stop on Route 4, only to get stuck in heavy traffic at the George Washington Bridge exit ramp in Fort Lee, police said.
Nathan Wong was driving eastbound on Route 4 at about 9:37 p.m. when a Teaneck officer received an alert that the vehicle had a stolen license plate attached.
The officer attempted to stop the vehicle near Route 4 East and Farragut Drive, but the driver allegedly refused to pull over and continued eastbound.
The attempted getaway ended at Exit 72 in Fort Lee, where heavy traffic on the exit ramp forced the vehicle to stop, according to the Teaneck Police Department.
Wong was taken into custody and the vehicle was impounded.
He was charged with eluding, a second-degree crime; receiving stolen property, a third-degree crime; resisting arrest by flight and obstruction, both fourth-degree crimes; and numerous motor vehicle violations.
Wong was remanded to the Bergen County Corrections and Rehabilitation Center pending a court appearance.
