MOONACHIE, NJ — New Jersey State Police shot a man in the neck in Carlstadt on Wednesday before he crashed his vehicle into a building in neighboring Moonachie.

The crash happened at 131 West Commercial Avenue in Moonachie, a Bergen County borough bordering Carlstadt and located just south of Teterboro Airport.

The man was found inside the vehicle and was being taken to Hackensack University Medical Center in unknown condition.

Two state troopers were also being evaluated but were not believed to be injured.

The shooting marks the first major state police incident in Bergen County since Jeanne Hengemuhle, a Bergen County native who grew up in Westwood and Washington Township, was appointed to lead the New Jersey State Police as its superintendent and chief.
