FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Fair Lawn is getting bigger, and fast.
The Bergen County borough added more residents than any other town in the county between the 2020 Census and July 2025, according to the latest New Jersey population estimates.
Fair Lawn gained 2,201 residents, a 6.3% jump that brought its estimated population to 37,128.
That made Fair Lawn Bergen County’s population-growth winner in a new look at all 21 New Jersey counties.
And the growth is happening in a town that is already one of Bergen’s larger communities.
Fair Lawn has become increasingly attractive to young families, including a growing Orthodox Jewish community. Congregation Shomrei Torah says many young couples and families have moved into the borough in recent years, with families buying and renting homes and putting down roots.
The borough is also seeing new development.
A major project near the historic Radburn train station is bringing 145 apartments for residents 55 and older along with a Sprouts Farmers Market. Construction began this year.
And the former ShopRite property on River Road is getting a new life as a Hindu temple and community center after sitting vacant since the grocery store moved in 2023.
The population numbers show the broader trend.
Fair Lawn had 34,927 residents in the 2020 Census. By July 2025, that number had climbed to 37,128, an increase of more than 2,200 people.
That puts Fair Lawn ahead of every other municipality in Bergen County for raw population growth over the period.
For a borough long known for its established neighborhoods, commuter access and large Jewish community, the latest numbers show something else: Fair Lawn is still growing.
