TENAFLY, N.J. — Three years after Hamas terrorists stormed into Israel and abducted their son, the parents of Tenafly native Edan Alexander are reflecting on the ordeal that changed their family forever.
Yael and Adi Alexander spoke with News 12 New Jersey’s Eric Landskroner about their son’s captivity, his return home and the impact Oct. 7 continues to have on their family.
Alexander was serving in the Israel Defense Forces when he was kidnapped by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023.
He spent more than 580 days in captivity before being released and reunited with his family in May 2025.
Now, three years after the attack, his parents are looking back on the fear, uncertainty and relief that defined those nearly two years.
“I’m so proud of him,” Yael Alexander says in the News 12 segment.
Alexander has since returned to Israel and completed his military service.
His hometown of Tenafly has also honored him, renaming a street outside Borough Hall in his honor.
