ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — An NJ Transit bus crashed into a house in Englewood early Thursday morning, sending the driver to a local hospital and leaving the home’s structural integrity in question, according to reports by NJ.com and WABC.
The crash happened just before 5:45 a.m. on Rockwood Place near Route 4 and Grand Avenue, according to the reports.
The bus had just left NJ Transit’s Oradell garage and was heading to Van Nostrand Avenue and Grand Avenue to begin its scheduled route on the 166 line when it crashed, NJ Transit told NJ.com.
The bus was empty at the time. The driver was the only person injured and was taken to a local hospital. The extent of the injuries was not immediately known.
WABC reported that the bus traveled across the front lawn before striking the front of the home.
Englewood officials, the city’s Buildings Department and PSE&G responded to the scene. Authorities said the crash appeared to have compromised the home’s structural integrity.
Englewood police are investigating the cause of the crash.
