TEANECK, N.J. — The music was blasting, the waffles were coming off the griddle and kids were racing toward the bounce house as families from across Bergen County and the region flocked to Chabad of Teaneck (AKA Friends of Lubavitch of Bergen County) for a lively Simchas Beis HaShoeva.

The Chol Hamoed celebration turned the Chabad property into a bustling Sukkos party, with activities, food and entertainment spread throughout the grounds.

The sukkah was one of the gathering spots, where families could sit, eat and celebrate Sukkos. Nearby, children bounced in the bounce house, played carnival games and lined up for face painting.

And then there was the food.

Fresh waffles came hot off the griddle. Cold Soft serve to counter the heat with a sweet treat. Pizza, cotton candy and other treats kept the crowds moving from one station to the next.

Music filled the property as children ran between the different stations and parents caught up with friends and neighbors.

Families also had the opportunity to shake the Lulav and Esrog, bringing the mitzvah of Sukkos into an afternoon filled with the sights and sounds of a community celebration.

The scene had the feel of a giant neighborhood gathering, with families arriving throughout the afternoon and children bouncing from one activity to another.

The event was offered completely free of charge, Friends of Lubavitch of Bergen County shared online, so every child and family could participate.

The organization said community support helps make programs like the Simchas Beis HaShoeva possible and keeps its events accessible to families throughout the community.

For several hours, Chabad of Teaneck was filled with the sounds of music, laughter and children having a blast on Chol Hamoed.

Waffles. Pizza. Soft serve. Cotton candy. Carnival games. Face painting.

And a whole lot of Sukkos spirit.
