BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. — Chaverim of Bergen County posted on social media immediately after Yom Tov about two separate calls over Rosh Hashanah involving missing minors, both of whom were safely located and reunited with their families.

In both cases, concerned families had lost contact for several hours, with plans and expected arrival times long past.

“Something didn’t feel right,” Chaverim said.

Members immediately mobilized, using their training and resources for missing-person searches. Multiple members responded, and both minors were located and safely reunited with their families.

Chaverim said the calls are an important reminder that, especially when families may not be using their cell phones, parents should make clear plans with their children about where they are going and when they are expected home, and stick to those plans.

The organization also urged families to trust their instincts if they lose contact with a loved one and something feels off.

“If you ever lose contact with a loved one and something feels off, trust your gut and reach out,” Chaverim said.

“That’s what we’re here for.”
