FAIR LAWN, N.J. – A Guardian EMS ambulance was heavily damaged in a crash on Route 208 in Fair Lawn Wednesday afternoon, leaving at least one person reportedly injured and causing traffic backups on the busy Bergen County highway.

The crash occurred in the northbound lanes just south of Morlot Avenue on Oct. 21, according to incident photographer Boyd A. Loving, who documented the scene.

The private ambulance sustained extensive front-end damage in the collision, although the circumstances leading up to the crash were not immediately clear.

At least one injury was reported, but authorities had not confirmed whether the injured person was an EMT, a patient or another person involved in the crash.

A second Guardian EMS ambulance arrived at the scene following the collision and later departed with its emergency lights and siren activated. It was not immediately clear whether the ambulance was transporting someone injured in the crash.

Traffic was restricted to the right lane for several hundred feet approaching and passing the crash site as emergency crews responded.

The damaged ambulance was eventually removed from Route 208 by a tow truck.

Fair Lawn police responded to the crash.

Additional details about the number of vehicles involved, the extent of any injuries and what caused the collision were not immediately available.
