PARAMUS, NJ — Bergen New Bridge Medical Center has named Dr. William Holubek as its new chief medical officer, bringing in an emergency medicine physician with more than a decade of healthcare executive experience.

Holubek succeeds Dr. Gian Varbaro, who left the hospital in March after several years as CMO.

He most recently served as chief medical officer at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, part of Baptist Health South Florida. He previously held the same position at University Hospital in Newark and served as vice president of medical affairs and CMO at Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center.

Bergen New Bridge said Holubek has focused his career on improving hospital operations, clinical outcomes, patient safety and collaboration across large health care organizations.

He joins the Paramus-based medical center as it continues expanding its clinical, specialty and ambulatory services. The 1,070-bed hospital also recently completed a major expansion of its Emergency Department and has been investing in new technology and programs.

“Bill is the kind of physician leader who can help us bring that vision to life,” Bergen New Bridge President and CEO Deborah Visconi said. “He knows how to lead across large healthcare organizations, understands what it takes to drive clinical excellence, and shares our belief that growth must be meaningful through exceptional care, greater access, and being there for every person who needs us.”

Holubek said the medical center's combination of growth, clinical innovation and its mission to serve patients attracted him to the position.

“Bergen New Bridge is doing something very special, combining tremendous growth and clinical innovation with a mission that never loses sight of who we are here to serve,” he said.

Bergen New Bridge is a clinical affiliate of Rutgers and operates satellite offices along with primary care and other health and wellness services at CareRite Now centers located inside select Inserra Supermarkets in Bergen County.
