BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. — Heavy downpours are causing flooding on major Bergen County roadways Thursday afternoon, with NJDOT reporting problems on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights and the New Jersey Turnpike/I-95 near the Englewood area.

As of 2:13 p.m., flooding on Route 17 northbound north of Franklin Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights had closed one of the highway’s three right lanes, according to NJDOT.

On the New Jersey Turnpike/I-95, the right lane of the northbound local lanes south of Exit 71 for Route 4/Broad Avenue was flooded as of 1:56 p.m. Motorists were advised to use caution.

Exit 71 serves the Englewood area, putting the flooding along a busy stretch of the eastern Bergen County corridor.

The flooding comes as heavy rain moves through the region Thursday afternoon. Road conditions may change as the storm continues, and drivers should use caution, particularly on low-lying stretches of roadway.
