TEANECK, NJ — Families from across Bergen County are invited to spend Sunday getting a little safer while enjoying a day of food, fun and community at the Chaverim of Bergen County Safety Day.
The free event will take place Sunday, Aug. 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of Temple Emeth at 1666 Windsor Road in Teaneck. The rain date is Aug. 23.
Chaverim of Bergen County, a volunteer-staffed organization that provides round-the-clock assistance for nonmedical emergencies, is bringing together local first responders, businesses and community organizations for a family-focused afternoon centered on safety.
One of the main attractions will be free vehicle safety checks. Chaverim Volunteers will check oil, coolant, windshield wiper fluid, tire pressure, tread and battery life, giving families an opportunity to make sure their cars are ready for the road.
The Teaneck Police Department will also offer free car seat checks, helping parents make sure their children's seats are properly installed.
For the kids, there will be plenty to keep them busy, including bouncy houses, face painting, music, cotton candy and ice cream. Families can also enjoy free hot dogs and cold drinks, while children can have ID bracelets engraved.
The event is being supported by a long list of local businesses and community sponsors, reflecting the broad support behind Chaverim and its mission of helping local families when they need it.
Everyone is welcome to attend, and no registration is required.
