PARAMUS, N.J. — A Hackensack man was arrested after allegedly making threatening phone calls to Valley Hospital in Paramus, including one in which he warned staff to "have their guns ready," according to a Thursday report by News 12 New Jersey.

Paramus police responded to the hospital on Valley Health Plaza at approximately 10:53 a.m. Tuesday after hospital security reported receiving two suspicious phone calls.

During one of the calls, the caller allegedly told hospital employees, "Tell them to have their guns ready," Police Chief Robert Guidetti said.

Investigators traced the calls to a cellphone associated with Rashaune A. Herbert, 44, of Hackensack.

Police located Herbert at the hospital, arrested him without incident and transported him to Paramus police headquarters for processing before he was taken to the Bergen County Jail.

Herbert has been charged with creating a false public alarm.

Authorities have not said what prompted the alleged calls or whether the hospital was placed on lockdown. No injuries were reported.
